UNICEF ha comprometido mil millones de d\u00f3lares para hacer frente al creciente problema de los embarazos adolescentes en Nigeria.     Las opciones y estrategias sanitarias adoptadas durante esta etapa repercuten significativamente en el potencial y las contribuciones de cada persona al desarrollo general de la naci\u00f3n.
    Anualmente, aproximadamente 21 millones de chicas de entre 15 y 19 a\u00f1os se quedan embarazadas, con una asombrosa 95% prevalencia de embarazos adolescentes observada en pa\u00edses de ingresos bajos y medios. En Nigeria, los embarazos adolescentes son m\u00e1s frecuentes entre las mujeres con un estatus socioecon\u00f3mico m\u00e1s bajo.
