O Estado de Kano, no Noroeste, representa o epicentro do surto, com 8 447 casos confirmados e 589 mortes. Os estados mais afectados s\u00e3o Kano, Yobe, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi e Kaduna que, no seu conjunto, representam 96% de todos os casos suspeitos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apesar dos esfor\u00e7os de controlo desde o in\u00edcio do surto no final de 2022, a doen\u00e7a propagou-se gradualmente a outros estados do Noroeste e do Nordeste. Crian\u00e7as de 1 a 14 anos representam 72% de todos os casos confirmados. A an\u00e1lise da situa\u00e7\u00e3o vacinal revela que mais de 60% de todos os casos suspeitos n\u00e3o foram vacinados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este financiamento faz parte do instrumento \"Epidemias\" da UE, criado para proporcionar um financiamento r\u00e1pido em caso de surto de doen\u00e7a. A difteria \u00e9 uma infe\u00e7\u00e3o bacteriana altamente contagiosa transmitida entre seres humanos. Provoca uma infe\u00e7\u00e3o do trato respirat\u00f3rio superior, que pode provocar dificuldades respirat\u00f3rias e asfixia.
