Understanding Financial Barriers to Primary Healthcare Access
Abstract
The cost of reaching and using primary healthcare extends beyond a consultation fee. This sample paper proposes a framework for exploring transport expenses, time away from work, medicine costs and the experiences of households navigating available support.
The proposed research combines household interviews with a review of service information and local referral options. It would document how people describe choices about seeking care and which costs they regard as most difficult to manage. Findings would be interpreted alongside community perspectives and the local policy context. This document is an illustrative research proposal and includes no household survey results, cost estimates or claims about the effectiveness of a financing scheme.
